As an official supporter of STC 2023 and the official hosts of the 74th International Astronautical Congress later this year, we take a closer look at Azercosmos.
Azercosmos, Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was founded in 2010 as the first and only satellite operator in the Caucasus region. Azercosmos currently operates two telecommunication (Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2) and one Earth observation (Azersky) satellites, successfully delivering high quality and reliable services to businesses and governmental institutions across the globe. Being committed to creating a better connected, developed and secure world for future generations, Azercosmos aims to emerge as one of the driving forces in the global space industry.
Transformed into the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2021, Azercosmos is the leading force behind the development of innovative space ecosystem in Azerbaijan. Apart from delivering a broad spectrum of services and solutions via its satellite fleet, Azercosmos engages in a wide range of R&D activities that aim to foster the technological advancement. The Agency cooperates with international stakeholders and partners to be fully integrated in the global space ecosystem, participates in major global projects, builds the local know-how, and ensures the establishment and strengthening of collaborative ties in the space industry.
On February 8 2023 the Agency celebrated 10 years from the launching of the first satellite to orbit – Azerspace-1. 08.02.2013 symbolises the starting point for the space industry of Azerbaijan where were taken the first steps to continue the space legacy in Azerbaijan, bring together a brilliant group of people who would soon lead the industry and represent the Agency’s position internationally.
Azercosmos' team shares a set of key values – Agility, Collaboration, Curiosity, Diligence, Integrity and all processes are based fundamentally on these values.
Mr Samaddin Asadov, Chairman, Azerbaijan Space Agency – AZERCOSMOS will lead the delegation to STC 2023 and make a presentation in the opening plenary session.
